General Guidelines
---- Nous avons besoin d'un traduction français!
Some Basics
1. Under Board "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQs) there are 3 sections dealing with General Forum Usage, User Profile Features, and Reading and Posting Messages. These deal with everything from Avatars to Your Notifications. Most general technical questions are covered there. Here is a link to the FAQs. https://forum.chesstalk.com/help
2. Consider using the SEARCH button if you are looking for information. You may find your question has already been answered in a previous thread.
3. If you've looked for an answer to a question, and not found one, then you should consider asking your question in a new thread. For example, there have already been questions and discussion regarding: how to do chess diagrams (FENs); crosstables that line up properly; and the numerous little “glitches” that every new site will have.
4. Read pinned or sticky threads, like this one, if they look important. This applies especially to newcomers.
5. Read the thread you're posting in before you post. There are a variety of ways to look at a thread. These are covered under “Display Modes”.
6. Thread titles: please provide some details in your thread title. This is useful for a number of reasons. It helps ChessTalk members to quickly skim the threads. It prevents duplication of threads. And so on.
7. Unnecessary thread proliferation (e.g., deliberately creating a new thread that duplicates existing discussion) is discouraged. Look to see if a thread on your topic may have already been started and, if so, consider adding your contribution to the pre-existing thread. However, starting new threads to explore side-issues that are not relevant to the original subject is strongly encouraged. A single thread on the Canadian Open, with hundreds of posts on multiple sub-topics, is no better than a dozen threads on the Open covering only a few topics. Use your good judgment when starting a new thread.
8. If and/or when sub-forums are created, please make sure to create threads in the proper place.
Debate
9. Give an opinion and back it up with a reason. Throwaway comments such as "Game X pwnz because my friend and I think so!" could be considered pointless at best, and inflammatory at worst.
10. Try to give your own opinions, not simply those copied and pasted from reviews or opinions of your friends.
Unacceptable behavior and warnings
11. In registering here at ChessTalk please note that the same or similar rules apply here as applied at the previous Boardhost message board. In particular, the following content is not permitted to appear in any messages:
* Racism
* Hatred
* Harassment
* Adult content
* Obscene material
* Nudity or pornography
* Material that infringes intellectual property or other proprietary rights of any party
* Material the posting of which is tortious or violates a contractual or fiduciary obligation you or we owe to another party
* Piracy, hacking, viruses, worms, or warez
* Spam
* Any illegal content
* unapproved Commercial banner advertisements or revenue-generating links
* Any link to or any images from a site containing any material outlined in these restrictions
* Any material deemed offensive or inappropriate by the Board staff
12. Users are welcome to challenge other points of view and opinions, but should do so respectfully. Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated. Posts and threads with unacceptable content can be closed or deleted altogether. Furthermore, a range of sanctions are possible - from a simple warning to a temporary or even a permanent banning from ChessTalk.
Helping to Moderate
13. 'Report' links (an exclamation mark inside a triangle) can be found in many places throughout the board. These links allow users to alert the board staff to anything which is offensive, objectionable or illegal. Please consider using this feature if the need arises.
Advice for free
14. You should exercise the same caution with Private Messages as you would with any public posting.
I hear you on Snopes. But Snopes is not the only organization that views America's Frontline Doctors as sketchy. For example, here is an article from the online newsletter of the 135,000- member American Academy of Family Physicians:
Now the questions are, who are the AAFP and are they credible? When looking at an American organization I'm not familiar with, my first assumption, out of prudence, is that they're a bunch of gun-toting whackjobs. In this case, however, the AAFP may be ok; refer to following Wikipedia article:
The wiki article has a caution that it was written by primary sources but....still.....the AAFP seems ok based on my preliminary investigation.
An amusing comment, in the AAFP's newsletter, about one of the AFD's doctors:
One is Douglas Deibele, who claimed on Twitter in March that he'd successfully treated 500 patients on a combined regimen of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin -- curious, given that Deibele is a dentist who has not practiced medicine in more than two decades, having set aside teeth in favor of acting.
The chart you included from Johns Hopkins is interesting. Did they explain why there was such a large improvement, from spring to fall, in the CFRs for countries like Canada and U.K.?
"We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office." - Aesop
"Only the dead have seen the end of war." - Plato
"If once a man indulges himself in murder, very soon he comes to think little of robbing; and from robbing he comes next to drinking and Sabbath-breaking, and from that to incivility and procrastination." - Thomas De Quincey
Did you know that 2300 years ago Arabs discovered that forcing people to cover their nose and mouths broke their will and individuality and depersonalized them?
It made them submissive.
That’s why they imposed on every woman the MANDATORY use of fabric over her face.
Modern psychology explains it: without face we don’t exist as independent beings. The mask is the beginning of deleting individuality. He who doesn’t know his history is condemned to repeat it..
A clear swipe at a religion that he followed up with a bunch of links that showed masks were either bad or not helpful. If these statements were true, he would have not needed the preamble insult. It looks to me like he was looking for evidence to support his personal view that masks or face coverings are bad and that Muslims are bad and equal to doctors and scientists (also bad) who are just trying to help everyone to the best of their abilities and knowledge. And when I say this, I am also not putting words in his mouth, I am just using his own words.
Yes, I remember reading that and wondering what his motivation was.

The reason the CFR has gone down is that the tests are overly sensitive (90% + are false postives) ( as I have already stated), yielding a lower percentage
of deaths per confirmed cases.

Check out Taiwan! They started screening last December, which was still over a month after U.S. intelligence agencies reported tracking. I also love how they heavily fine disinformation.
"The island of 23 million people has recorded just 716 coronavirus cases and seven deaths"
Very perceptive Aris! There are actually many countries who have contained coronavirus well but Taiwan is a good example. If you go over the world list you will see its about 80 countries that are in crisis (of about 200)

The most amazing part is the 91 yr old probably waited all night in line to get the vaccine.
Reportedly, right after receiving her vaccine, the 91 year old woman began the new line for the Cher "Absolutely Last and Final Farewell" 2021 concert tour stop at Wembley Stadium.

You can dance around it all you want. It was a swipe at Muslims, and you know it. They are the group that cover their faces. But keep going....you have nothing to lose now. Most people here know what you are all about.
The video is 2.5 hr long. Is there a particular part you're recommending be watched?

Nice try Brian, women have been subjugated by all of the major religions early on, and sadly by man even before most major religions existed and indeed masks were a known technique of subjugation long before muslims even existed. My point is that the lockdowns and masks are simply another form of gov't tyranny and are not based on science. The Govt for example insists on Placebo Random Control Trials for early treatments even though historically most medications and treatments have been approved on the basis of level 2 observational data using non random controls.
Where is the insistence for Random Control trials for masks or lockdowns? Show me such a trial, they don't exist! This is govt mandates based on pseudoscience.
This hearing today in the US senate is "what I am all about". I am "about" saving lives. I have spent my life running companies where we were proud of
a company being so diverse we looked like the United Nations and in fact had many Muslims working for us.
Trying to accuse me of being a racist is really bad form and you can stop now. We have infected elderly people in nursing homes and hosptials across Canada right now that could be easily treated but our health officials insist on a policy where medical professionals are expected to sit with their hands in their pockets and do nothing until people are suffocating and it is too late.
Let's talk about solving problems like this instead of trying to attack each other politically.
