Earth to Hit Critical Warming Threshold by Early 2030s, Climate Panel Says

A new U.N. report says it is still possible to hold global warming to relatively safe levels, but doing so will require global cooperation, billions of dollars and big changes.

From my following of this issue for some years, it has been my position that the "tipping point of Nature
" (We can no longer put things back the way they were) is about Jan. 1, 2031.

The WEF controlled UN, LOL!!!!! The group also oversees the WHO, aka THe World Homicide Organization. If you think these organizations and government have your best interests at heart, you are out of your mind!

    • The issue of who controls what is a critical issue. So one should not just decide things by "appeal to authority".

The issue of the truth of factual statements is a separate critical issue.......we must use objective evidence to determine truth, regardless of source.

Ice & the North-American Great Lakes

According to some forecasts, the Great Lakes could be almost completely ice-free by the end of this century. One concern is the impact that might have for regional weather patterns.

“We are in so much trouble,” Prof. Xenopolous said. “We’re gonna have more intense storms, we’re going to have more rain, we’re going to have more lake-effect snow.

“I know winter drags on and on, but it’s better for the lakes to have ice than not to have ice. They’re big bodies of water, and they play a role in controlling the climate.”

                Executive Summary

A fundamental assumption driving the computer models in Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) studies is that rising CO2 levels from the burning of fossil fuels produce a strong positive feedback response from water vapor. Weather balloon data, satellite data, long-term surface weather records, or the physics of the saturation curve for CO2 do not support the IPCC’s computer-modeling results.

The computer models are running too hot, and they do not provide a reliable basis for governments to use in determining their global warming policies.

We have lived in the Modern Warm Period since the end of the Little Ice Age (1300- 1695). This moderate warming trend was similar to that of the Medieval Warm Period about 1,000 years ago, the Roman Warm period about 2,000 years ago, and the Minoan Warm Period about 3,500 years ago. This is all happening within the Holocene Interglacial period, which ended almost 100,000 years of glaciation about 12,000 years ago. At the Holocene maximum, about 6,000 years ago, northern summers were about 4° Celsius warmer than today, almost all the glaciers had melted, a spruce forest was growing at Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, and sea levels were about 2 meters (6 feet) higher than today.

We entered a Neoglacial cooling phase about 3,000 years ago. New glaciers began to form during temperature dips like the Little Ice Age. This essay describes why the IPCC was created, how it operates, the issues it has failed to address, and the misallocation of the West’s economic and intellectual resources resulting from the IPCC’s and environmentalist Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) single-minded demonization of CO2.

                  Analysis of Last Week's Stats

Last week the number of views were back up from the week before; the responses were down slightly.

                  Climate Change Thread “Responses”

There are lots of climate change articles out there, both on negative anthropogenic climate change, and negative natural climate change.

This thread encourages CT'ers on all sides to re-post here, as responses, the climate change posts of interest they see elsewhere. Overall, ChessTalker's have been quite active here in posting “responses” and it seems that chessplayers across Canada are wanting information on climate change, a challenge unlike any our species has ever faced before.

                  Note:

                  1. The goal of this thread is not to woodshed an opposing view into submission. Every position is entitled to post as it sees fit, regardless of the kind of, and amount of, postings by other positions. What is wanted is serious consideration of all posts........then you decide.
                  2. I personally, as the thread originator, am trying to post a new response at least every 2nd day, but admit my busy schedule means I am sometimes falling short on this. So it is great that a number of other CT'ers are posting responses here somewhat regularly.

                  The Pressing Climate Change Issue

                  The core issue:

Building a sense of URGENCY on this issue in society. We must realize that we cannot kick it down the road any longer!

The public is aware of the climate change issue.......

                  BUT.....

climate activists must find strategies to “AWAKEN” the public to the “urgency”.

It is expected, though somewhat disheartening, to see other negative issues of the day climb immediately to the top of the public's agenda, with climate change being sometimes substantially downgraded in importance. We will all pay for this.........

                  The Time Line

Nature's Tipping point is estimated to be, on current trajectory, only 9 years away (Around Jan. 1, 2031). Capping the temperature rise at only 1.5 degrees Celsius (the original international target) is now impossible (UN Climate Change Panel's most recent report in March, 2023). Their position is that the problem at this time is mostly due to human activity, and that radical change in our method of living is the only way to avoid this rising, very problematic, temperature. UNCCP noted that current government deadlines were totally insufficient to solve the problem. CO 2 must be capped by 2025 since it is the main contributor to the problem! Methane is another greenhouse gas of concern, with some maintaining it contributes more to the problem than CO2. The extent of involvement in the greenhouse effect of water vapour is somewhat controversial.

Also, it has now become necessary to add in the process of CO 2 “removal”, along with “eliminating” the spewing of greenhouse gases into our atmosphere by human activity.

Our window of opportunity is fast closing.

                  The Large Picture Solutions

Can we come up with at least one viable suggestion of some impressive, radical thing that might wake up the public, that we could then put out there to other concerned climate activists?

                  Negative “Natural” Climate Change

This thread has had a number of CT'ers arguing for Natural Climate Change, and arguing that the human economic activity contribution to negative climate change is negligible. We are just in one of Nature's long warming cycles.

We would encourage everyone to consider the materials being presented, and then see whether they in any way change your perspective, if you are an adherent of negative Anthropogenic climate change. Whether you change anything, or not, your assessment of the evidence would be most welcome in this thread.

CT'ers' Local Actions on Climate Change

You can do something! When you like one of this thread's links on an aspect of climate change, spread the news by posting it to your social media accounts and other Websites/Discussion Boards in which you participate!

                      • Sid, it is my personal opinion that what you post above is propaganda. In my opinion, we can learn more about climate change by looking out the window. You may believe Charlie Chester if you want to, I will believe my own eyes that have been observing the radical shift in our climate since the 1970s. I do admit that climate change may be natural at least to some extent, rather than being completely man-made, but this possibility does not lessen the grotesque amount of pollution, some of it radioactivity from malfunctioning nuclear energy facilities, that mankind continues to belch into the atmosphere, the water, the earth and the food that we eat. If we are going to make a mistake, let us do it on the side of caution. Denying that humans have these sorts of problems will only exacerbate them.

                        • To some of us, Charlie Chester was a successful music hall comedian in Britain, who was popular on the BBC. Any thing he, or his namesakes, say can be taken as entertaining, but hardly seriously!

In case you are confused about Canada being a WEF client state that wants you dead and is covering up mass genocide, please watch this heartfelt presentation.

                            • Sid, thank you for this. My opinion on all such presentations is that they are put forth as propaganda by people who want us to believe that they are far more powerful than they really are. I have no fear of these punks, nor should you. There are no central powers on this planet, history does not work that way. We have a vast competition for power being waged by and among huge numbers of punks. Humanity evolves through eternal oppositions and struggles, the principal opposition is East versus West, the principal struggle is capitalism versus communism. Nobody, and no group exists in control of these oppositions and struggles, try as they might to convince the more gullible among us that they do have such power. This is my opinion.
