You can replay the game from this link
Aravindh Chithambaram Vr., now 14 (turning 15 this November 9th), beat Alexei Shirov today in the final round of the RTU 2014 for a score of 7/9, joint 3rd-8th, with a TPR of 2718! This is at least his 3rd GM norm and his September FIDE rating should exceed 2500 so I'm assuming he must now be a GM-elect.

      Go Canada!
Murali Karthikeyan is the 2nd 2011 WYCC U12 representative from India to earn his 3rd and final GM norm this month. ChessBase reported on Murali's remarkable accomplishment at the Abu Dhabi Masters yesterday.

And that result only gets more remarkable.

That 2011 WYCC U12 group has already produced 2 GMs this month (see 2 previous posts) and scanning the final results in Brazil,

        http://chess-results.com/tnr58152.as...flag=30&wi=821

there could ultimately be as many as 8. Leading candidates, with their country and current FIDE rating included are:

        1. Francesco Rambaldi, Italy, 2444
        2. Jeffrey Xiong, U.S., 2442
        3. Aryan Tari, Norway, 2440
        4. Razvan Preotu, Canada, 2418
        5. Benjamin Gledora, Hungary, 2407
        6. Alcantara Jose Eduardo Martinez, Peru, 2379

Most of the other top finishers, including Canada's bronze medal winner, Michael Song, have stalled in the 2200+ rating and not likely to be considered GM candidates any time soon. Razvan is in some rather impressive company here (:

I hope Loren Laceste will return to Canadian chess. He has a lot of potential.
