General Guidelines
---- Nous avons besoin d'un traduction français!
Some Basics
1. Under Board "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQs) there are 3 sections dealing with General Forum Usage, User Profile Features, and Reading and Posting Messages. These deal with everything from Avatars to Your Notifications. Most general technical questions are covered there. Here is a link to the FAQs. https://forum.chesstalk.com/help
2. Consider using the SEARCH button if you are looking for information. You may find your question has already been answered in a previous thread.
3. If you've looked for an answer to a question, and not found one, then you should consider asking your question in a new thread. For example, there have already been questions and discussion regarding: how to do chess diagrams (FENs); crosstables that line up properly; and the numerous little “glitches” that every new site will have.
4. Read pinned or sticky threads, like this one, if they look important. This applies especially to newcomers.
5. Read the thread you're posting in before you post. There are a variety of ways to look at a thread. These are covered under “Display Modes”.
6. Thread titles: please provide some details in your thread title. This is useful for a number of reasons. It helps ChessTalk members to quickly skim the threads. It prevents duplication of threads. And so on.
7. Unnecessary thread proliferation (e.g., deliberately creating a new thread that duplicates existing discussion) is discouraged. Look to see if a thread on your topic may have already been started and, if so, consider adding your contribution to the pre-existing thread. However, starting new threads to explore side-issues that are not relevant to the original subject is strongly encouraged. A single thread on the Canadian Open, with hundreds of posts on multiple sub-topics, is no better than a dozen threads on the Open covering only a few topics. Use your good judgment when starting a new thread.
8. If and/or when sub-forums are created, please make sure to create threads in the proper place.
Debate
9. Give an opinion and back it up with a reason. Throwaway comments such as "Game X pwnz because my friend and I think so!" could be considered pointless at best, and inflammatory at worst.
10. Try to give your own opinions, not simply those copied and pasted from reviews or opinions of your friends.
Unacceptable behavior and warnings
11. In registering here at ChessTalk please note that the same or similar rules apply here as applied at the previous Boardhost message board. In particular, the following content is not permitted to appear in any messages:
* Racism
* Hatred
* Harassment
* Adult content
* Obscene material
* Nudity or pornography
* Material that infringes intellectual property or other proprietary rights of any party
* Material the posting of which is tortious or violates a contractual or fiduciary obligation you or we owe to another party
* Piracy, hacking, viruses, worms, or warez
* Spam
* Any illegal content
* unapproved Commercial banner advertisements or revenue-generating links
* Any link to or any images from a site containing any material outlined in these restrictions
* Any material deemed offensive or inappropriate by the Board staff
12. Users are welcome to challenge other points of view and opinions, but should do so respectfully. Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated. Posts and threads with unacceptable content can be closed or deleted altogether. Furthermore, a range of sanctions are possible - from a simple warning to a temporary or even a permanent banning from ChessTalk.
Helping to Moderate
13. 'Report' links (an exclamation mark inside a triangle) can be found in many places throughout the board. These links allow users to alert the board staff to anything which is offensive, objectionable or illegal. Please consider using this feature if the need arises.
Advice for free
14. You should exercise the same caution with Private Messages as you would with any public posting.

While Biden's family wore masks for the entirety of the debate, Trump's family took theirs off, directly violating the safety rules put in place by the Cleveland Clinic. An official came up and offered them masks, but the family waved them away. Afterwards, Melania walked right past Chris Wallace without wearing a mask. During the debate, Trump mocked Biden for wearing a mask in situations Trump thought unnecessary: https://www.washingtonian.com/2020/1...during-debate/

Just some of the many examples showing why people say that Trump and other Republicans haven't taken COVID seriously enough. This is all after Trump spent MONTHS refusing to be publicly photographed wearing a mask. People have died and more still will because of this cavalier attitude.

On wearing a mask agree 100%.
Amazing how Nancy Pelosi said that wayyy back in January calling Trump's ban on air travel ... immoral!
He enacts a partial ban on air travel coming in from China wayyy back in January ... and gets crushed ... for banning air travel from China.
He is late to wear a face mask, although he had his Surgeon General, Dr. Jerome Adams, instruct the American public on how to wear a face covering ... wayyy back in April! And he still gets crushed???
Again ... in January he begins to ban air travel in an attempt to curtail the spread of COVID-19 and in April he advises the American public to wear a face covering through his Surgeon General in an attempt to curtail the transmission of COVID-19 !!!
You're not using COVID-19 as a political weapon ... are you???
You know that I'm right when Trump and those who defend him can only bring things up the same few things that happened over six months ago over and over again. Trump didn't publicly wear a mask until JULY. The stuff that I posted happened THIS WEEK. He and other Republican leaders show up on TV all the time not wearing masks and not social distancing. What kind of a message do you think this sends to the public, particularly when there are already so many people who still doubt the severity of the virus and still refuse to wear masks?

And yes, I condemn her for this as well. However, whatever bad stuff Pelosi has done in no way takes away from anything that I've said.
Thanks again Lucas for all your great posts!
To further expand on your last point, I am just so sick and tired of when a Person A does something wrong and is called out on it, the main reaction of that Person A and his defenders is to call out something alleged to a Person B. Especially something not directly related. It's amazing how folk USE various Person B narratives in order to EXCUSE actual Person A transgressions. How about this: when a Person A does something wrong: admit it, apologize appropriately, and we can all move on with mutual respect. That rarely seems to happen any more. Few people OWN their actions.

One question- Are you aware that Dr. Fauci called Remedesevir "the standard of care" that has zero papers showing it has any efficacy for saving lives? I could go on but that alone disqualifies him as credible. Early treatment of COVID has saved lives around the world ....but not in Canada or the US where patients are sent home untreated to self isolate and return to the hospital when it is too late.
.
Doctors put Trump on Remedesevir. It was a few months ago when Trump tried HCQ.

Sorry Garland, but the emperor has no clothes!
An article from April 29 appears to contradict what you're claiming Fauci said. Here's a quote from the article:
"National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony S. Fauci, MD, said today that data from a multinational randomized control trial showed that Gilead’s investigational antiviral remdesivir “has a clear-cut significant positive effect in diminishing time to recovery” for patients with COVID-19."

The video I included shows exactly what Dr. Fauci said. No need to search for an article when you can get it right from the horse's mouth.
Here is what subsequently happened to patients in France, the trial was terminated because 4 of the initial five patients suffered severe kidney failure,
Scientific papers show the drug to be totally ineffective except prophylactically which would be impractical for this treatment or immediately on infection. For COVID19 it is not known for a day or two after infection.so it is both toxic and ineffective.
"appear to affect rates of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) viral RNA load decline and mortality when compared with placebo."
Trump was taking HCQ prophylactically for a short time and then stopped. The Remedesevir will not help him but could have toxic side effects (see above post). He should be ok because he is also taking regeneron that uses a monoclonal antibody that should work unless the virus mutates.

So why is it that medical people, who presumably know a lot more about this than you or me, are giving remdesivir to Trump? New and positive info about remdesivir, or a sign of desperation (i.e. Trump's condition is worse than is being reported)?
p.p.s. I tried to watch your video but got a message that said something like, "the uploader has not made this video available in your country."

I provided research on this subject. The Lancet article poses questions about past research on Remdesevir that questions how this drug could be useful at all .. This paper just came out and is the first placebo based study on humans and sadly does not look good. The most interesting question posed however, was this
"With in vitro and animal evidence suggesting remdesivir is optimally suited for viral prophylaxis or immediately following viral inoculation, why would there have been any reason to expect a different outcome in humans, where SARS-CoV-2 has a median incubation period of 4 days?"
The scientific evidence is that in the real world it does not work. It did not work in France and did not work here. I only provide data about what is. i do not speculate about "why". I rely on scientific papers, not on articles from journalists.
